Perth Day 3 (22/11/2014)

This is our 1st morning at the farmstay ! This farm offers animal feeding sessions on every Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday @8.30am.  After a quick breakfast, we made our way to the gathering point and waited excitedly for the session to begin.  Old ma stayed back at the cottage to wash up and prepared a simple lunch box for all of us for this pm's outings...

Animals roaming on the farm during those feeding sessions.  Alpacas, lambs, chickens etc etc....lol ! Vinnie the farmer..he is really good with both kids and animals...all 2 legged and 4 legged just love him and the way he goes about doing his job...with a jovial mood..

Vinnie making sure that no one is left out of the fun ..

Ahhh..here is where Vinnie will ask small little kids to crawl under the canvas to pick freshly laid eggs.

Feeding time...mehhhhhh....

LOL..how to feed bull and cows? Stack hays on top of their heads!  Vinnie teasing the animals..

Emus..

This is the fun part..Vinnie will ask unsuspecting young kids to hold the bucket of feed, made them stand close to the emus...and the emus will peck the food eagerly and crowd around the poor kid.  hahahaaaa...made really good photo pose!

My kids' fav animal on the farm..this well fed chicken..

After the farm activities ended, old ma already got our day's lunch packed, coffee and tea thermo flasks filled...and so, we are ready to set of for a day of fun !

I have purposely planned by stay at Margaret River to coincide with a Saturday so that we can visit their Farmer's Market, which is open only on Saturdays.  Well worthed trip ! Even if we are not there buy anything in particular, just to be there to soak up the atmosphere and weekend spirit is indeed totally worth it.  Not a very big market, should be able to finish a round within half an hour.  This market is actually held at a field, within some institute.  Just drive towards town, and you should be able to see the direction sign when you are approaching the Fudge Factory.

After Farmer's Market, we paid the Fudge Factory a visit.  Less than 2 mins drive.

See thru kitchen for us to see work in progress..

End products..

The have a little counter there that sells cake, pastries, coffee and smoothies etc...

We ordered a milkshake to share...

Walked out of The Fudge Factory...turn left..and we see.....COLES !  Supermarket time again....heeheee...

My kids just can't stop buying salmon and sausages for breakies, dinner etc...here we go again.  And luckily, each day, I just throw our cooler bag into the car boot for times like this.  Shop, buy and need to continue journey without having to worry about meat going bad.

Slurpilicious Kopi..just opposite of the Fudge Factory

After COLES and coffee break, we were on our way to....

Bettanay's!  It's about 25 mins scenic drive.  Directions from google map is so clear that we did not miss any turns at all.

Before the trip, I read so much about this nougat and wine store that I told myslef must at least pay it a visit and if stuff are too expensive, don't buy then...

But when we arrived and saw mouth watering nougat....BUY BUY BUY ! hahahaaa....

Frankly the stuff here is on the rather expensive side, but I guess that comes with quality too.  The nougat tasted superb...not too sweet and you can taste premium quality.  I bought 2 bars of the salted caramels and whao.....heavenly !  Even my colleagues agreed when I brought 1 bar back to the office.

See thru work place...we saw how the nougats were being made and packed..

This little lake is part of the exterior of Bettanay's. A real postcard background for photo takings !

Spent about half an hour at Bettaney's and we went to The Margaret River Chocolate Company.  Yay !  Today's route is planned in such a way where all places that we are going to visit is all along the way...looped and finally back to our farm cottage.

This sign says it all folks ! Free chocolate tasting !

They do sell ice cream there..worth a try..yumzzzz...

Aiya ya.....

:(  too bad...

At the back, there is a cafe selling glorious chocolate drinks, cakes etc... DON'T MISS !

We skipped the food, but ordered hot chocolate drinks...which was really truly unbelievably thick with real chocs!

After all the free chocs and hot drinks, we drove over to Providore since it is just at the back of the Chocolate Factory.  You don't need to walk there..drive over..there is a small lane and you can drive along that to Providore.  No need to get out onto main road.  It is easier this way as you will want to drive off to some other places and not spend time walking back to collect your car at the Chocolate Factory.  About 5-7 mins walk maybe?

So many types of jams, dips etc to taste ! Grab some spoons with you as you walk around.  Use once and please throw it away. No double dipping for obvious hygiene reasons.  Oh, you must try the Dukkah!  It was so good...I bought a pack home.

Once again..on the road towards the Natural Olive Oil and Soap Factory.  Here, they sell soap bars, cleanser, olive oils and Dukkah ! My Fav!  :)  Free tastings of Olives, Dukkah dips etc...Cannot resist..bought another pack of Dukkah...lol!

As we still have sometime before nightfall, we decided to make a trip to Candy Cow.  Along the way, we passed by The Cheese Company and decided to pop by and buy some cheese for breakfast tomorrow.

It was a 15 -20 mins stop at the cheese company and we proceed to our last stop for the day...Candy Cow ! Old folks love this place, kids went wild with choice...and me...busy watching them and make sure no over buying.  Luggage space at stake !

If you like, you can visit Candy Cow in the morning.  Every 11am, the owner will make their very very famous honeycrunch right in front of your eyes!  I bought 3 packs..and my oh my...these are just too good to be true...with honey oozing....bit by bit...

The salted caramel fudge was so good...look at how many we bought!!

Finally, with big and small bags in the car boot. we headed back to the farm cottage.  Pumped petrol before that...

Partial ready dinner..chicken still roasting in the oven (bought from supermarket..not live catch from the farm !:)) and soup still on stove...boiling !

What a wonderful way to end a perfect day!  A sumptuous dinner, followed by all females do the washing and cleaning up, males setting up the fire place.  This is what I call family bliss! No amount of money will buy you that kind of feel and bliss...
