As school holidays is coming to an end, decided to bring kids for a last outing before the coming of manic days ahead! :)
It has been raining for the past duno how many days, we kept out fingers crossed. Woke up to a cloudy day but kids were in such high spirits and anticipation that I have no heart to disappoint them. Worse come to worse, waste some money and then make another trip next time lor.
Being super kiasu, we packed lunch, food, water etc into our goody bag and set off at 9.30am. We reached the car park at Resorts World at about 9.55am..and boy oh boy.. so many cars there already ! Hahaa..all super early gamblers have already started work huh..
We took an escalator up to the level where Univeral Studio is. Look out for the light blue big big heading sign that says "Maritime....". The water theme park is located just right behind.
As we went on a weekday, the crowd was not too intimidating. Entrance fees: Adult : SGD29/-. Kids : SGD20/-.

Walk-Way towards the Adventure Cove Waterpark
Cannot bring own food - so HIDE 'EM!
My son was carrying our packet lunches in a plastic bag. The ticketing crew told us that no outside food was allowed. Biang...how lei? I told the crew that if we are not allowed to carry on hand, then I shall put it inside my bag. She went ?!?!?!..hahahahah.. I told her if I kept it out of her sight, that should be ok since there is no rules and regulations to say that everybody must have their bags checked. She also boh bian..told me to go in, rent a locker and put my lunch packets inside. Read in between the line..."ok lah....we see no evil, smell no evil..." The family who queued behind us was quick to learn. Straight away tell the crew that they will rent a locker and put their food and belongings. :))
Free Food Voucher with Tickets Purchase
When we bought our tickets, we were given a SGD5/- voucher each..to be used in the food outlets within the theme park or at some other eateries ( Malaysia Street Food Centre inclusive). Of coz no use the vouchers lah, brought our own picnic bag. Valid till June 2013 next year. Shall give to my ma to pass on to her die-hard casino friends..gagagaga!
First sight that greeted us was changing room and the high tech locker. Changing room is bright and airy, nice.
Locker
As for the locker, well, you may need some help from the crew who is always there with a smile. Slot in a SGD10 note for a small locker or SGD10 X 2 notes for a large locker. Small locker is good to squeeze in 2 -3 bags (normal size harvest sack). All lockers are good to open and close as many times as you like. All computer operated, Go to the kiosk (always located 2 to 3 lockers away), key in your password, favorite color and choose to open and reuse or end rental.
NOTE: You cannot choose your desired locker. It is assigned by the electronic system. Silly me and kids dumped our bags into 1 locker that we chose, tried to close the door and suddenly the door locked! Waahaahaa! We have not paid for the locker and end up no password to unlock. Quickly call the crew there..they helped us to unlock the locker that we play play with and taught us how the procedures. The locker system is not too bad, except that when you open the locker, someone must hold the door. Once it close, it will locked automatically and you will be going to the kiosk again to unlock it. This is the only troublesome thing ..
Swimming Attire
The park is not really strict on this. You can wear round neck t-shirts, shorts etc. I saw these few chinese women wearing dresses into the pool. Got those shining shining things on their dress somemore! Yeeeks! Don't they know that they are swimming in a public pool and not on a nightclub floor? When they got out of the water, dress dun look like dress, all stretched and elongated due to water weight..and adding on to the water weight, their own sagging assets..what a droopy-licious sight! *NO EYES SEE*. Not sure why the crews did not tell them to get changed or get our from the pool.
Footwear
As for slippers / footwear, one advise is not to stuff it into the locker, Just wear it (save locker space too). When u need to get into the pool, just leave it by the side of the pool. As the place is big and on a hot day, walking around bare footed may not be a wise thing to do. Also, at some activities / pool side, they have these round little container-like shelving for you to put your shoes / goggles..no worries!
Float / Life Jackets
Plentiful. Free. All looks new. Most importantly...NO SMELL ! Bright and colorful too ! Just take the one that suits you size.
Bathing Time NOTE !
The park closes at 6pm. Note that each changing room have at most only 5 shower cubicles. Mad one ! So many people, queue like xiao! Right after you pass the entrance, wah...everybody will rush for the locker and changing room there . That is the most crowded place. You SHOULD walk a little further in (towards the cafeteria restaurant) and rent your locker there, Don't join in the mad crowd at the main entrance. If you are not sure of directions to the next changing room, just ask lor. I try to help here.. Once you pass thru main entrance, walk straight, you will see a big cage about waist-height where they put lots of life jackets. Walk along this little path. About 20 steps, you should see a brown-colored rectangular box on your left ( like a coffin, that's what my kids say :)). Continue walking, look out for a little mini bridge on your right hand side. Cross that, turn left and continue walking. You will be walking towards a cave-like entrance. Walk thru the cave-like dark area and we will see a cafeteria. (Brown wooden 2 storey building). Look out for the sign pointing to changing room..or ...ask lor !
The eatery place / cafeteria..
Meals at the cafeteria
I went into the cafeteria and see look. Hmmmm...prices not too cheap (by my standard of course). Fish and chips ( normal serving) costs about SGD16.90. So if use the SGD5 food voucher, gota pay about SGD11-12/-. If there are 2 or 3 of you, ok lah. But if it is one whole family of 5 or 6 pax, wooooo....be prepared to pay at least close to SGD100/-, food and drinks together. So...like me...BYO lor! :))
Drinks
Around the park, you can actually pay SGD8-14 for those souvenir long tall drinking mug with a straw and that comes with refills, good an valid for the whole day. I did not buy those, coz by the time I noticed that, it was late in the afternoon. Not worth it. Also, we brought our own drinks..
The free flow drinks can be bought at kiosks like these :
Photographer
Where ever you swim . play in the park, there will be crew coming up to you and ask you to smile for the camera. Not free..later you go choose photos at the shop near the exit, pay money and buy.
Photography Tip
I learned something new when I was in the pool. There is this man who put his iphone into a Ziploc bag, went into the lazy river, walk around the river and snap photos ! hahaha! Gd one! As there are no strong waves in the lazy river ( only those trickling water from above..some gentle some more forceful - can be avoided if you walk right near the edge of the pool), this method does work!
Hmmm...just make sure no one trips / bump him from the back..or else Plonk ! Iphone and Ziploc will go into the water. Ahhhh...if it happens and he fished out his phone/ziploc from the water and the phone is not wet at all, I will ask him for the brand of his Ziploc Bag. Tested good quality. Water cannot go in once zipped up. Good arh !

Interesting Views
Seems like bikinis is the latest trend in our pools here in SIN! I really salute those who wear less than string thin bikinis going for those slides and exciting rides. Do not be surprised to find men standing (or oogling) at the bottom of slides all waiting to see those hot babes, grandmas too, coming down from slides, boobs bouncing doink doink, landed, and 1st thing they do? Check the bikini tops and strings. Haiz...wana wear, must be confident and must not be conscious of stares lor. Wearing bikinis are cool, but for god's sake, when one's bikini starts to look like it is straight out from kinky shops, spare me ! :)
Some pics of the park..
My kids tried the following slides. Before their "float boat" thingy came splashing out from the tunnel, I could hear them scream soooooooo loudly that for one moment, I thought their "boat" capsized. But after 5 secs, they came out with a big splash...
The following attraction is the called the Big Tree Bucket. Suitable for younger kids . toddlers. Buckets way above will be filled up and tipped at intervals, dispensing huge splash of water from the bucket. You can hear squeals or delight and laughter from kids!
Wave Pool ! Grab a float, sit on it, paddle to the deeper end ( 1.6m) and wait for the tide to start! (Every 10 mins).
Lazy River bleow...we spent most time in this. The river will bring you to a section where you can see fishes swimming above you, and also the big "aquarium" where people snorkel to see the shoal of fishes. You can see stingrays, baby sharks and one or two kinds of fishes that I recognized but don't know their names coz my mum always put it on our dining table. :))
Pools for toddlers and babies..
The following is located at Rainbow Reef. Queue here if you wana snorkel an get close to fishes. You will need to know at least how to swim. Compulsory to wear life jackets. Snorkel equipments are provided. Water is approx 2.9m deep. But with life jackets and many crews around...should be ok. My kids chickened out :)
Obstacles course pool.. Again as the pool is at least 3m deep, kids ran far far away..back to lazy river..
See the 2 platforms there? One high and another lower? Ahhh..you can jump off from there into the pool. Kids love that. I mean other kids..not mine...my kids by this time is already in the lazy river, going round and round for the millionth time !
In summary, it was a day well-spent. We were there from its opening hour @ 10am till its closing at 6.00pm. It is ok to go at least once for the experience, but I don't think I will want to get the annual membership. There are some other attractions that we did not venture to try...eg: Feeding of stingrays (SGD20 per pax) coz kids does not want to do it. I saw this Dolphin Section which is not opened yet, I guess it is like the feeding of the stingrays, you pay some money spend time and feed dolphins. Not sure when the section will be open.
Comparing this to other theme parks in Singapore eg Wild Wild Wet, this place gives a different feel in terms of its theme and also the attention it gives to visitors. I guess that justifies the higher entrance fees. The sight and experience are unique, eg..coming so close to underwater experience with fishes etc but in terms of activities, water slides etc, I would say it is all about the same in all theme parks. The queue at Adventure Cove Waterpark for its various activities in general takes about 30-40 mins during peak hours. So I am not sure if it is really worth the wait, standing under hot sun.
Of course, for the shrewd planner, you should arrive there when the park opened at 10am, don't go into the lazy river ( Coz that will be the 1st that comes into sight)..but instead make a dash for the park highlights eg slides, mat slides, Rainbow Reef for snorkeling first. In this way, you can go at least 2-3 rounds before the crowds crashed in. At 10.15am, kids and me were already at the Rainbow Reef, no queue, but coz kids chickened out, we did not enter the water to snorkel. If we have done that, we can go at least 2 rounds. So.....before you set off, google for the park's map, plan out what you want to do, arrive at the park, don't waste time looking a map for directions...ask the crew there and make a bee-line dash to the activities you wana play first!
