Bangkok Day 8 (21/10/2013)

Today is our 8th day in Bangkok and we will be going home tomorrow! How time flies !

This morning, we wanted to go for the wanton noodles again (refer to Bangkok Day 2).  Unfortunately when we reached there, the stall was closed and will only be opened tomorrow.  Too bad.  Anyway, always plenty of good food in Bangkok. .. so we walked further into the lane and discovered this wonderlicious noodle stall !

When you are at the wanton stall, contnue to walk down the lane..

You will see this stall on your left.  Forgot to take a front photo.

This is the noodle..yummmzzzz.  Some locals ordered this with a big piece of big pork rib in it..

Opposite of this stall is a fashion store, selling colorful singlets, leggings etc.  You will have to wait for seats as this stall is pretty crowded at all times.  Mainly locals though, probably because most tourists will go to the wanton noodle stall and once done, will walk back to the main street to continue shopping.  This stall is located further done the lane, so only locals will be more familiar with it.

After our breakfast, we walk back towards the main road ( Shibuya ). Once we hit the main road, we turned right and took a leisure stroll.  We did not turn left to go into Pratunam's hot and stuffy lane.  About 7 minutes walk, we came to this new boutique hotel.  Apparently the wanton noodle stall is promoting this hotel, maybe they own it?

Just directly opposite of this hotel, we found a small gem.  A local pharmacy. They sell the K Brothers soap!  My parents loved this facial soap very much.  It is made of rice milk and it's real good for oil control, blemishes and dark spots. In Singapore, we bought a bar for SGD5/-!  Here? less than SGD1.    Since my parents finished their last bar in Singapore, and the shop has shifted, they have been lamented over the fact that they won't be able to buy this anymore.  As fate would have it....they found the exact same soap in Bangkok, at a much cheaper price!  Wow!  So, grab ! 30 pieces at one goal.  LOL !

After a satisfying buy at the pharmcay, we walked back towards the wanton stall and go to Platinum Mall.  I went back to grab a pants that I saw the other day and we took the opportunity to have lunch there too.

Along the way, on the streets to Platinum Mall, we bought these crispy pancakes again.  So Irresitable !

Simple meal at Platinum Mall..

After a quick shop at Platinum Mall, parents went back to hotel to rest while I brought kids to Central World - for DESSERTS!  Woooolalaaa!  So off we go, in search of After You..

Found it ! On level 7 of Central World.  Same level as the cinema.

There is no need to order drinks.  It's provided free of charge.. Unsweetened flower tea.  Cool !

We ordered 2 items from the menu and share..

Apple Crumble and Ferraro Toast

The price charged is not exactly cheap.  But then again, we are paying for real quality desserts.  Must try ! They have another branch at Siam Paragon too.

Shopped and little more at Central World and headed back to hotel to freshen up.

Candy making shop..

Dinner tonight...we went to MK Steamboat at MBK.  Heard a lot about this restaurant and seen lots of advertisements at BTS stations.  So, tonite we shall go try.

I read from the internet that at every 6pm, the serving crew will do a simple theme dance.  We missed that though.

The prawn balls - best !  Duck tasted so yummy that we ordered a second round.  All in all this meal cost less than SGD55/- ! We ordered 2nd round for almost everything...so I would say the price is really reasonable!

After dinner, we walked around a little more before heading back to the hotel to start on the task of major packing !  8 full days worth of stuff...so packing will be a real challenge !

Oh in case anyone wants a price reference, I bought the following 28" luggage for 1700 baht. @ MBK.
But when I checked in this luggage and upon reaching Singapore, outer surface was scratched here and there.  So, it's not scratch proof but for that price, I would say still a very good deal.

Buffering......last post on our Bangkok trip coming up next......80%..90%...99%....
